As
Thanksgiving approaches, the state Food Bank still needs to collect
food and nearly 5,000 turkeys for families in need. HCNJ invites alumni
to donate a frozen turkey or canned goods on Sat., Nov. 20th (9am - 2pm)
to drop-off sites throughout Bergen, Essex, Middlesex, Morris, Passaic,
Somerset or Union counties. Specific addresses are on the attached
list. We hope our community can make at least 50 donations of turkeys
and/or canned goods this holiday.
General Donation Guidelines:
- Frozen turkeys (no thawed food) and/or canned goods. No minimum weight on turkeys. All brands/types are welcome.
- No cellophane or glass containers.
- All
quantities are welcome, however, generally a holiday box can include 6 -
8 assorted items (ex: corn, potatoes, beans, fruit, infant formula,
gravy, etc.).
- See
below for "Most Wanted" food items (canned vegetables/fruits, peanut
butter, milk/infant formula, boxed or packaged meals, etc.), but all
donations are welcome.
Also, please feel free to send us an email at: c_morisseau_95@post.harvard.edu to let us know that you made a donation (we only need your name), this will help us tabulate the Club's participation.
Please see link for Drop-off locations in Bergen, Essex, Middlesex, Morris, Passaic, Somerset or Union counties: http://www.njfoodbank.org/media/2010-turkey-drive-master-list.pdf
Thank you for your generosity, and if you have any questions, please contact: Food Bank's Sourcing Dept. at 908-355-3663.
"With
the need for our services continuing to rise, we have increased the
number of sites in hopes of bringing in more food to help make a holiday
meal for those in need. We would especially welcome the support of the
Harvard Club of New Jersey this year."
